The city of Noto has very ancient origins: considered by the Romans “civitas foederata,” after the Byzantine period it was conquered and transformed by the Arabs into a stronghold. Destroyed by a terrible earthquake, between the 17th and 18th centuries it was then reborn in that style, called “Sicilian Baroque,” which made it a jewel of scenic architecture, characterized by the opulence of its decorations. Noto, dubbed the “Capital of Baroque,” has buildings made of light, compact limestone, which when illuminated by the sun take on a golden hue with iridescent shades. The interweaving of hues and rich decorations, found especially in the balcony shelves and majolica tiles of Palazzo Castelluccio, are echoed in the texture of this product line.
