Bronte, a town known throughout the world for the particular variety of Pistachio that grows luxuriantly on the slopes of Mount Etna. Close to the village is the Museum of the “Gullotti Sicilian Cart,” born from the passion of a lineage of carters. From an artifact with wheels to a work of art, the cart is an expression of the folklore of a part of Sicily where the quality and refinement of the paintings, are enhanced in the scenes of the side rails, rich in executive details and refined and well-finished carvings.
The entire “Catania” wagon is decorated on a predominantly red background with bright, strong and contrasting hues: yellow, red, green and blue, characteristic of Sicilian taste, obtained with colored earths mixed with linseed oil. This wisdom and craftsmanship are emphasized in the Bronte line where the designer picks up the floral and geometric motifs from the “banks.”
