About Us

A Family Tradition

CEAR Ceramiche Azzaro e Romano Srl has reached the third generation of the Romano family, which continues in the business of producing ceramic artifacts in Caltagirone, summing up all the technical and artistic experience gained in more than 40 years of craftsmanship. A tradition handed down from father to son in one of man’s oldest crafts.

In 1975, Marcello together with his wife Agata, took over the business of their father Pino, now retired, an esteemed and esteemed Painter and Ceramist who in Caltagirone has left several testimonies of the highest artistic value, with his allegorical majolica panels, which still give luster in the city’s urban decor. In the 1990s, daughters Giovanna and Anna also joined the family business following graduation, as did Cosimo Azzaro, who became a son-in-law. Now already in the fourth generation, grandchildren are beginning to approach this craft with the hope of carrying it further into the future.

Producing Ceramics in Caltagirone, entails a greater responsibility because of the awareness of having to work always giving the best of one’s professionalism. This makes it possible to always keep the target of a production range that falls within the canons of the millenary tradition of Caltagirone Ceramics, but at the same time aims for innovation with an adaptation aimed at modern times. Today Caltagirone enjoys a prestige won through the inventiveness and great artistic ability of those from centuries past who began to write the history of Ceramics with their work.

CEAR ceramics offers a wide range of products with the lines for tableware and interior and exterior decoration, with the decorations and colors faithfully anchored in the Calatino tradition but revisited with a modern twist.

A separate discourse deserves the line of hand-decorated floor and wall tiles, which repurpose the most beautiful motifs drawn from their own tradition, whose roots can be seen in the Spanish and especially in the Arab tradition, which at the time of the domination in southern Europe, transferred, especially to Caltagirone, a great wealth of technical and artistic knowledge.

Thus was born our colorful Collection of tiles with the Sicula, Hispanic and Moresca series for tiling bathrooms, kitchens, floors, terraces and fashionable places, rich in ornamental patterns, color combinations, and classic or more modern styles to suit the different needs of each of our customers.

Buying Ceramics in Caltagirone today also means appropriating an important piece of history and culture.
